Fine silver wire is ideal for combining with silver clay and for creating delicate jewelry designs. This soft, pure silver wire (999 silver) is perfect for securely attaching a pearl or natural stone to your silver clay pieces.
Using with silver clay:
Cut about 1 cm of wire and use flat-nose pliers to flatten 2 mm at one end. Then bend the wire 1 mm further at a 45° angle to form an L-shape. The flattened end can now be placed into the clay and secured with silver clay paste. You can also use this technique to create prongs for stone settings.
Tip: use thicker wire when attaching a larger stone to ensure extra strength and stability.
Other uses:
Thanks to its soft and flexible structure, fine silver wire is also perfect for wire wrapping. Unlike sterling silver, fine silver is less hard and tarnishes more slowly. Any tarnish can be easily removed with a silver dip cleaner.
