Ring Stretcher for Rings

Have you noticed after baking a silver clay ring that the size is just not right? Do you have a ring with structure or parts that you can't hit with a hammer? No worries!

With this handy ring stretcher you can easily and controlled stretch your ring to a larger size. The stretcher is suitable for rings with a diameter of 16mm up to approximately 24 diameter.

This ring stretcher is suitable for metals such as silver, bronze, copper and gold. Easy and safe to use. Even distribution of force for minimal chance of breakage.

Use:
•Make sure the ring is annealed - This is the case if the ring has just been baked. Is it not? Then use a burner to re-anneal the ring (heat and let it cool), so that the material is softer and more stretchable.

•Place the ring over the narrow end of the ring stretcher (part with the slots).

•Slide the metal pin together carefully, narrow side first, until you feel slight resistance.

Place the thick side of the stretcher in the plastic sleeve.

Tap the top of the metal pin with a hammer. The metal panels will gradually slide apart, stretching the ring.

Note: Stretch the ring slowly and check regularly in between to see if the size is correct. For wider rings, you can turn the ring over after stretching to stretch both sides evenly.

Important tip for large size enlargement:
Do you have to stretch the ring a lot? Anneal the ring again in between to prevent breakage or cracks. This prevents tension in the metal or on any (solder) seams.
