Copper patina

  • Description

Patina for Copper. On the pictures a Bronze with Copper inlay.

Because the Baldwin patina can no longer be entered to Europe, we went in search of a replacement product, and found it. This copper patina gives copper a dark color brown the same as Baldwin did. Making it perfectly suitable to apply contrast to Mokume-Gane, Shibuichi or Shakudo workpiece. And it don't affect your silver.

On the example photo a piece of work is shown made of bronze with copper inlay. The Bronze does not color much, the buyer gets darker.

This patina has been developed for this metal combination. For best results, clean the surface thoroughly with soap to remove oily impurities. Prepare the surface by working with a fine pumice stone. Heat the metal under running hot water and shake off the excess moisture. Rub a small part of the solution over the entire surface and rinse. Do not let the patina penetrate. Alternate with rinsing until the color is reached. The copper must be dark brown without affecting the silver.
