Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus 35 gram. This thick variant is an addition if you already work a lot with paperclay and you are looking for a somewhat more robust appearance.

Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus 35 Gram – Thicker Flexible Silver Clay for Origami, Bezels, and Decorative Designs

Art Clay Silver Paper Type Plus 35 gram is a flexible sheet-style silver clay. This Plus version is approximately 2.5 times thicker than the standard Paper Type Clay and has a thickness of 0.6 mm. This makes the material stronger and suitable for more structural and detailed designs.

The thicker structure makes this version ideal for creating small charms, leaves, decorative shapes, and stronger bezels. Despite the increased thickness, the material remains flexible enough to be folded, bent, punched, and cut, similar to paper. The Paper Type Plus can also be carefully rolled through a pasta machine or roller together with texture sheets to create reliefs and decorative surface textures.

With this Paper Type Plus, techniques from origami, paper crafting, textile work, and leather crafting can be applied. Due to the increased thickness, the Paper Type Plus is sturdier than the standard version and especially suitable for sharp, clean, and controlled architectural folds and structural designs by applying light scoring or cutting lines.

Only score the material lightly, to approximately 1/3 of the material thickness (about 0.2 mm). Do not cut too deeply to prevent cutting through or weakening the material.

After firing, the clay transforms into pure fine silver (.999), while many delicate textures and details remain visible.

Applications:

  • Thicker bezels and constructions
  • Origami and folded designs
  • Paper-style techniques and appliqué work
  • Lightweight three-dimensional designs
  • Creative mixed-media applications
  • Creating textures and reliefs with texture sheets

Properties:

  • Made from fine silver (.999)
  • Approximately 2.5 times thicker than standard Paper Type
  • Flexible sheet-style silver clay
  • Suitable for folding, cutting, and punching
  • Ideal for bezels and decorative forms

Please note:

• Use water or paste very sparingly with Paper Type variants. Too much moisture may cause the material to dissolve, soften, crumble, or crack.

• Do not use a gas torch, gas stove, or microwave kiln for firing Paper Type Plus.

• Store unused material at room temperature and away from direct sunlight.

Shaping Phase

Paper Type Plus is sturdier than the standard version and especially suitable for sharp, clean, and controlled architectural folds and structural designs by applying light scoring or cutting lines.

Only score the material lightly, to approximately 1/3 of the material thickness (about 0.2 mm). Do not cut too deeply to prevent cutting through or weakening the material.

  • Create shapes by folding, bending, or cutting. Keep in mind a shrinkage of up to 10% in length after firing.
  • Do not add extra moisture to the surface. The material remains soft and workable without moistening. Excess moisture makes the paper clay limp and reduces its structure.
  • If cracks occur, they can only be repaired after firing with Art Clay Silver Paste Type. Do not use this paste during the shaping phase.
  • No drying time is required if no paste has been added. Do not use a hairdryer or other devices to dry the piece, as this can damage the binder or cause burning.
  • Attachments can be made with Art Clay Silver Paste or spray clay, but ensure they dry for at least 24 hours in the air. Do not use a hairdryer or oven for drying.

Firing

The pieces must be fired in a special kiln. Place the workpiece in a cold oven and gradually raise the temperature to 800 or 850°C. Bake for 30 minutes at 800°C or 20 minutes at 850°C. The pieces can be removed from the oven while still hot. Ensure good ventilation in the workspace.

  • Do not use a gas torch, gas stove, or microwave oven as the material may melt or spark.
  • Do not place the piece in an oven already hotter than 200°C, as this may cause deformation or cracking.
  • For three-dimensional designs, it is recommended to use supporting materials such as a fiber blanket. Ensure the blanket is not wrapped too tightly, as this can affect shrinkage and cause breakage.
  • Do not touch the piece with bare hands after firing; let it cool completely.
  • Avoid bending or applying excessive pressure on the fired piece, as it can break. Use Art Clay Silver Paste Type to repair any cracks.

Finishing Phase

After firing, the piece will have a matte, white appearance. Use a polishing brush for a matte finish, and polishing sponges, an agate pen, or polishing needle for a glossy result. Yellow stains from fiber materials will disappear when polished.

Important Tips

Add as little moisture as possible while working. Use sharp tools for precise work. Work in a dry environment with clean, dry hands.

Storage

Store at room temperature, away from sunlight, and avoid high temperatures (above 50°C) or high humidity (>80%). Keep unused pieces in the original packaging; no extra plastic or airtight packaging is needed. Keep away from children.

Reusing Paper Type

  • Leftover Paper Type cannot be reformed into clay or restored to its original form by adding water. The recycled material may crack during firing.
  • Use scraps to create small decorations with a punch or turn leftovers into paste (the adhesion and strength will be slightly weaker than with Art Clay Silver Paste Type).
  • Do not mix Paper Type with other products from the Art Clay Silver series due to differences in binders.
