Keumbu or Keum boo is a centuries old Korean technique. Processing a layer of gold on silver, using gold foil.

Do not confuse the foil with the gold-plated gold leaf, because the foil is a lot thicker and can therefore also be grabbed and burnished, the foil melted together, by heat and friction, with the silver, creating a very durable gold layer.
